it is perfect as is, and is perfectly British. Apparently it is being remade in America and I have seen some footage...no good. Boo.

Mr Suzuki made a good observation, that people aren't naturally motivated by the environment, rather they incorporate their environmentalism through other logical choices and motivations...think about it

it happened to me today, check out a logical equation:

hello everyone,

today I went to the set of "Fringe". It is a television show that my friend 'zano works on as a props person. they were filming in the park by my house so I strolled over to view some filming.

There was a burnt guy--really really burnt--he was smoking all over with fake smoke. he looked like a nice steak.

I got to shoot a fake gun...I think it was a "glock"---the kind that snaps back at your hand. I only shot air pressure but it was cool. I also held a rubber gun that seemed to be made out of some kind of nerf material.

I saw "olivia" shoot a real gun. She is very attractive in person.

I had a kit kat from catering and a nice cup of tea from craft services. Life has pockets of goodness.

Ryan Dahle plays the olympic Celebration site on feb 17th---it's coming up!

the olympics start apparently on the 12th of Feb...I have no idea how it will affect my life? I currently walk to work, will I never be able to drive anywhere? restaurants are doing a mandatory 18% tip included on meals...a friend of mine is stocking up at costco so she doesnt have to buy food during the 'lympics...maybe we should all treat it like Y2K. speaking of Y2K, did you know that I played a show at the Anza club on Y2K with my old band, the Salteens, and the new pornographers opened for us!!! I guess they won that fame game...

how 'bout this weather? it'll go one of 2 ways: tourists will think that this is the most amazing and warm and beautiful city and real estate prices and taxes and food and parking will go up more and I will officially move out of this expensive town once and for all. OR, the warm weather will reek havoc on the wintery sports and vancouver will fail...but even if the weather fucks with the games, i guess the vancouver tax payers will just be fronting the bills to come for "snow creation".

so that sounded pretty negative--I am not against the Olympics, i just think this city is a bit of a farce on the "world stage" as we've got some deeper social issues to manage before bragging.

1. You wanna play the world-stage game? wouldnt it be great for vancouver to have a pedestrian bridge over false creek? No more experimental bike lanes cutting into traffic. Think of vancouver more as London or salsburg, with their quiet pedestrian bridges crossing their famous rivers. it would increase tourism, cut down traffic.

2. free transit in the city limits. Wanna play against portalnd, Vancouver? Go free internet and free transit. Wanna go green for real Vancouver? how about free transit.

3. HST. Oh good one BC! make everything more expensive! Kick the people while they are down...reduce GST to make canadians vote conservative but then create a new tax that will cost even more! Groceries and books should have more tax on them afterall! kids shouldnt get books and clothing at a reduced rate compared to an adult! hooray for progression!

I have been discussing with my Attic and Cellars friends about finding some tix to the paralympic events. i think it would be interesting as I have little knowledge about these less glamorized sports.

I love the Bloedel Conservatory--it is full of parrots, birds, and plants. The pacing is very slow. I guess modern society cannot handle a slow pace anymore and therefore it is being shut down. What will happen to all the exotic plants--will they just be left to rot? Can I adopt Rosie the african grey? Apparently the petting zoo / farm in Stanley Park by the mini train is being shut down as well.

double whammy of amazing art this weekend.

1. I got a wicked 1st edition vinyl copy of XTC's Black Sea. It blows my mind. It is perfect pop, perfect performance (pre computers), perfect lyrics. perfect energy--

2. I saw Matthew Barney's cremaster 3 film last night. my petty and simple mind was blown. infact, my brain plopped out of my ear and ran out my nose whilst watching this 3 hour epic (1 in a series of 5 btw). I am no longer capable of forming cohesive thoughts. I wont recommend it--I think anyone in their right mind wouldn't. but I am hooked--I want to learn more about matthew barney--the guy has long term vision.

I was guest-listed for Block Party and Hot Hot Heat last night. I really enjoyed the show! I dont go out much, so it was fun. I drank a pear cider. It has probably been 10 years since I have had a pear cider. I kinda want to go to band of horses in sept....I listened to XTC, hoodo gurus and Squeeze all day today--satisfying.

so I am in Saskatchewan, today I paint the cabin. My brain is so relaxed from doing manual labour....no customer interactions, no phone calls, no music, just bad radio stations whilst labouring.

Album questions. I truly beleive the album will be released in August or September. It is ready to go.

Awkward Stage and Attics and Cellars are playing a show...I believe it is Friday, June 13th at the Biltmore (but I may have those facts off a little bit). I was going to play with both bands (double duty!) but I will be away...so go and support, but I won't see you there.

hey, I went to the Breeders concert on Friday night at Richards! The best! Divine! It has been a long time since I drank beers and watched a fantastic pop band play fantastically! It was great. R.I.P. Richards soon.

I went to the Victoria Scooter Rally this weekend and I am still alive! My Vespa 100 Sport carried me safely to and from the great victoria-land. I went with Ryan, Gavin, Moneca, Greg, Rose Richard Felix, Deano + Jennifer, and added a bunch of new friends to the scooter clan as well.

My friend Gavin took some sweet photos that I will post over the next coupla days. Someday Gavin will be famous from his photos...just you wait!

We came home and my neighbour Gavin showed me the miracles of the Macro button on my digital camera whilst taking photos of Christmas-styled assorted candle holders. Perhaps this isn't the most close-up or creative of my camera endeavors from the night, but a monster did happen to appear in this shot. Some sort of large, land living octopus thing overtook the small town of Bigtree By the Glen that evening.

I tried to change the picture to the right and I found out that it has been sooooo long since I logged in to Flickr, that my old account is there to look at, but my login info is invalid...booooo. Forever looking and not changing!

Mini pizzas with my friends and their angelic little girls tonight and then off to the Christmas Train!!! I love the mini train in Stanley Park! my neighbour is the head engineer!

Spooky Ghost train is better than Christmas train, however, wouldnt you agree?....we missed it this year what with the strike n all. Does anyone (other than my generally non commenting close friends) live in vancouver or are the majority o comment people from all over the Canada/world? Does anyone else feel a Stanley park mini train love?

Christmas Bleed

hello friends,

let the christmas bleeding of money commence! Actually, I think I am officially all bought up for this year as far as gifts go...ouch, and hooray.

yearly cookie making party tomorrow...pictures to follow.

Christmas party for work was last Wednesday. We went to Soma....know the place? we drank a little too much wine-o.

Christmas party tonight, our friends have a 8 year old who is going to entertain us with carols on the piano.

Inbetween these events and my work....the 12 song album continues towards completion...we shall see if it makes it to 12 or 11.....or 10....ah! to be done!

can we please hurry up

some people think that our little string band is called "addicts and sellers". It's not, it's Attics and Cellars like a house. We have a new addition to the band, a bassoon player named Arland and he has a beard.

We opened for Jose Gonzalez last night at Richards. wow, people pack out a show for that man! it was nice to play a big audience show, they seemed to like it. He is Swedish, did you know?

when i was a kid, i wrote an essay about disneyland for grade 1 or 2....I suppose essay is a bit of a strong word for a early grade paper. my family and I went to disneyland for christmas break. i was learning how to read n write real-good-like and I used the word "het" instead of "had" throughout the entire essay. ex: "my sister and mom and dad het to ride the bus to tijuana from san diego". i wrote the paper in my grandpa's basement on a pad of lined, legal size (8/12 x 14) paper.

welp, Ryan is too busy to speak, so I will have to bore y'all with my own words.

I also remember writing a paper about the sinking of the titanic in grade 1 or 2 as I was quite taken with that old black and white film about the titanic....man o man, what was that movie called? "a sad day" "a cold day" mmmm anyone know?

I am stressed out a bit and it is causing me to have weird anxiety dream/thoughts whilst in bed. last night I was thinking about steak....then I thought that people do not eat "steak skin", then I thought about steak skin being tanned and then made into leather, then I thought about eating crispy chicken skin, then I thought about making "chicken leather".

welp, what else? this blog is much more in the style of "blog" than I usually submit to....I suppose I do not put alotta effort into my dear blog. I need to update the look! BUT I AM AFRAID!
